Competition #1: Win Laymon Books

The latest Laymon paperback to hit the bookstands is AMONG THE MISSING (which is released this month in the UK and Australia)! We have 20 copies to give away and all you have to do to be in the running is provide us with a short-short story (105 words or less) which contain as many of Richard's book titles as possible.

For example: One Rainy Night during The Midnight Tour, we went down to The Cellar and met a Savage who had a gang of Fiends and who turned the whole event into what seemed like an Endless Night..... You get the idea.

105 word short story, the more titles the better, 20 copies of AMONG THE MISSING to win - send us your story to enter the draw!

The winning story will be judged by Richard Laymon and the lucky winner will receive a signed copy of the Ziesing hardbound edition of ALARMS -- the U.S. version of ALARUMS! This is a wonderful collector's edition of ALARUMS and could be yours if your story is judged the best by Richard!

Email us your short-short stories now at: gerlach@ains.net.au

Thanks to everyone who entered!

Richard has read all the finalists and here's what he had to say:

"I have now had a chance to read the finalists for the story contest. Choosing a winner wasn't easy. All of them made clever use of the titles. My final choice as winner, however, is the story submitted by brent@ntr.net. Brent not only told a good story that made sense, but he worked in 22 titles -- including the title of one of my unpublished novels, which I can only figure he got from A WRITER'S TALE. Good job, Brent!

Running a close second was the story submitted by "Magda Pilch." She didn't use quite as many titles as Brent, but told a very good story.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the contest, and to all the people who helped to run the contest and provide prizes.

--Dick"

So, congratulations to Brent!! Here's his winning story:

"OUT ARE THE LIGHTS AFTER MIDNIGHT on ALLHALLOW'S EVE when YOUR SECRET ADMIRER arrives, whispering, "COME OUT TONIGHT." Phil joined THE TRAVELING VAMPIRE SHOW ONE RAINY NIGHT; now he wants to BITE your FLESH.

Seeking A GOOD, SECRET PLACE to hide, you TREAD SOFTLY to THE CELLAR. As you QUAKE IN THE DARK, bracing for an ENDLESS NIGHT, youknow THE LAWMEN are chasing FIENDS elsewhere--your only protection's a stake!

Your BODY RIDES a wave of chills when A STRANGER'S ARMS embrace you and the BLOOD GAMES begin. Several SAVAGE CUTS with THE STAKE leave Phil a DEAD CORSE with nothing but RESURRECTION DREAMS."

Brent, you'll be receiving a signed copy of the Ziesing hardbound edition of ALARMS soon!
